In this article, we are going to discuss excel if then function / formula. I am making this article concise for readability so that you can easily understand it. If else or if then statement is used for decision making. Excel has to choose one of the two provided options based on criteria.

Excel Formula If Then

In the following example, we have a table of students, their marks and also the percentage of their marks.

In the status column, excel would show the status of student. If the marks are less than 33%, the status would be displayed as “Fail” otherwise the status would be “Pass”.

Structure of if function is provided below.

IF(condition, message/value if true, message/value if false)

Let us apply this function in our table of students.
